How to put gmail into apple mail
To set up Gmail in Apple Mail on your Mac or iOS device, follow these steps:
On a Mac:
- Open Apple Mail on your Mac.
- Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts.
- Click the + button at the bottom left corner of the window.
- Select Other Mail Account.
- Enter your Gmail address and password.
- Click Continue.
- Select IMAP as the account type.
- Enter the following settings:
- Incoming Mail Server: imap.gmail.com
- Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.gmail.com
- Username: your Gmail address
- Password: your Gmail password
- Click Create.
On an iOS device:
- Open the Settings app on your iOS device.
- Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
- Tap Add Account.
- Select Other.
- Tap Add Mail Account.
- Enter your Gmail address and password.
- Tap Next.
- Select IMAP as the account type.
- Enter the following settings:
- Incoming Mail Server: imap.gmail.com
- Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.gmail.com
- Username: your Gmail address
- Password: your Gmail password
- Tap Save.
Additional settings:
- To enable two-factor authentication (2FA) for your Gmail account, go to the Security tab in your Gmail account settings and enable 2-Step Verification.
- If you're using 2FA, you'll need to generate an App Password for Apple Mail. To do this, go to the Signing in to Google page, select App passwords, and follow the instructions.
- You may need to allow less secure apps to access your Gmail account. To do this, go to the Less secure app access page and toggle the switch to On.
Once you've set up your Gmail account in Apple Mail, you should be able to send and receive emails using your Gmail account.
