How to recall email in gmail
There are a few ways to recall an email in Gmail:
Method 1: Using the "Undo Send" feature
Gmail has a built-in feature called "Undo Send" that allows you to retract an email within a short period of time after sending it. To use this feature:
- Go to your Gmail account and click on the gear icon in the upper right corner.
- Select "See all settings" from the dropdown menu.
- Scroll down to the "General" tab and look for the "Undo Send" option.
- Enable the feature by clicking on the toggle button.
- Set the time limit for how long you want to be able to retract an email (e.g. 5, 10, 15, or 30 seconds).
- Once you've sent an email, you'll see a "Undo" button at the top of the page. Click on it within the set time limit to retract the email.
Method 2: Using the "Unsend" feature
If you've sent an email and want to recall it, you can try using the "Unsend" feature. This feature is not as reliable as the "Undo Send" feature, but it's still worth a try:
- Go to your Gmail account and click on the "Sent" label.
- Find the email you want to recall and click on the three vertical dots next to it.
- Select "Unsend" from the dropdown menu.
- Confirm that you want to unsend the email.
Method 3: Using a third-party add-on
There are several third-party add-ons available that allow you to recall emails in Gmail. Some popular options include:
- Boomerang: This add-on allows you to recall emails and also provides other features like email reminders and scheduling.
- Sanebox: This add-on uses AI to help you manage your email inbox and also allows you to recall emails.
- Revive Old Post: This add-on allows you to recall emails and also provides other features like email scheduling and reminders.
Important notes
- The "Undo Send" feature only works if you've enabled it and set a time limit for retracting emails.
- The "Unsend" feature is not guaranteed to work and may not be available for all emails.
- Third-party add-ons may have limitations and may not work for all emails.
- Recall emails may not be possible if the recipient has already read or responded to the email.
