How to restore store folder in live mail

The "Store" folder in Windows Live Mail is where your email messages are stored. If you've lost or deleted this folder, you can try the following methods to restore it:

Method 1: Check the default location

  1. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the following location:
    • For Windows 7 and earlier: C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail
    • For Windows 8 and later: C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\Packages\WindowsLiveMail_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState
  2. Look for the "Store" folder. If it's not there, try the next method.

Method 2: Check the backup folder

  1. Check if you have a backup of your Windows Live Mail data. You can do this by:
    • Checking the "Backup" folder in the same location as the "Store" folder (see Method 1).
    • Looking for a backup file with a .bak extension in the same location.
  2. If you find a backup file, you can restore the "Store" folder by copying the contents of the backup file to the original location.

Method 3: Re-create the Store folder

  1. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the default location of the "Store" folder (see Method 1).
  2. Right-click in the folder and select "New" > "Folder". Name the new folder "Store".
  3. Open Windows Live Mail and go to "File" > "Options" > "Data Files". Make sure the "Store" folder is selected as the default data file location.
  4. Close Windows Live Mail and restart it. The "Store" folder should now be recreated.

Method 4: Reinstall Windows Live Mail

  1. Uninstall Windows Live Mail from your computer.
  2. Download and reinstall Windows Live Mail from the Microsoft website.
  3. During the installation process, select the option to restore your data from a backup. If you have a backup file, select it to restore your data.

If none of these methods work, you may need to try more advanced troubleshooting steps or seek assistance from Microsoft support.
