How to stop your mail temporarily

There are several ways to temporarily stop your mail delivery, depending on your location and the type of mail service you use. Here are a few options:

  1. USPS (United States Postal Service):
    • To temporarily stop mail delivery, you can file a request with the USPS. You can do this online, by phone, or in person at your local post office.
    • To file a request online, go to the USPS website and click on "Hold Mail" under the "Mail & Ship" tab.
    • To file a request by phone, call 1-800-275-8777 (1-800-ASK-USPS) and follow the prompts.
    • To file a request in person, visit your local post office and ask to speak with a customer service representative.
  2. UPS (United Parcel Service):
    • To temporarily stop UPS mail delivery, you can contact UPS Customer Service at 1-800-742-5877 (1-800-UPS-HELP) and ask to suspend delivery.
    • You can also log in to your UPS account online and click on "Account Settings" to suspend delivery.
  3. FedEx:
    • To temporarily stop FedEx mail delivery, you can contact FedEx Customer Service at 1-800-463-3339 (1-800-FEDEX-9) and ask to suspend delivery.
    • You can also log in to your FedEx account online and click on "Account Settings" to suspend delivery.
  4. Local Mail Services:
    • If you receive mail from a local mail service, such as a private carrier or a local post office, you may need to contact them directly to request a temporary hold on delivery.

When requesting a temporary hold on mail delivery, you will typically need to provide your name, address, and a reason for the hold (e.g., vacation, moving, etc.). The hold will usually be in effect for a specific period of time, such as 1-3 months, depending on the service and your agreement.

Remember to restart your mail delivery when you're ready to receive mail again.
