How to undo send gmail email

The age-old question!

Unfortunately, Gmail doesn't have a built-in "undo send" feature, but there are a few workarounds to help you recover from sending an email too quickly:

  1. Undo Send feature (limited to 5 seconds): Gmail introduced an "Undo Send" feature in 2015, which allows you to retract an email within 5 seconds of sending it. To enable this feature:
    • Go to your Gmail settings (gear icon).
    • Click on "General" and scroll down to "Undo Send".
    • Toggle the switch to "Enable Undo Send".
    • Set the "Undo Send" window to 5 seconds (or 30 seconds if you prefer).
  2. Use a third-party browser extension: There are several browser extensions available that can help you undo sent emails, such as:
    • Undo Send for Gmail (Chrome, Firefox, and Opera)
    • Gmail Undo Send (Chrome)
    • Send Later (Chrome)
    • Undo Send (Firefox)
  3. Use a third-party email client: If you're using a third-party email client like Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird, you might have a "Recall" or "Undo Send" feature available.
  4. Contact the recipient: If you've sent an email and realize it was a mistake, you can try contacting the recipient directly and asking them to delete the email. This might not always work, but it's worth a try.
  5. Use Gmail's "Report spam" feature: If you've sent an email to the wrong person or it contains spammy content, you can report it as spam. This will help prevent the email from being delivered and might also help you recover from the mistake.

Remember, these workarounds are not foolproof, and there's always a risk that the email has already been read or deleted.
