Iphone email junk mail filter

The eternal struggle against junk mail!

The iPhone has a built-in email filter that helps to automatically move unwanted emails to the "Junk" folder. Here's how to set it up and manage it:

Enabling the Junk Mail Filter

  1. Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  2. Tap on "Junk Mail" and toggle the switch to the "On" position.

Customizing the Junk Mail Filter

  1. Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  2. Tap on "Junk Mail" and then tap on "Junk Mail Filtering".
  3. You can choose from three filtering options:
    • "Strict": Moves most junk mail to the "Junk" folder, but may also move some legitimate emails.
    • "Moderate": Moves most junk mail to the "Junk" folder, with fewer false positives.
    • "Relaxed": Moves fewer junk emails to the "Junk" folder, but may also leave some junk mail in your inbox.
  4. You can also add specific email addresses or domains to the "Blocked" list, which will always be moved to the "Junk" folder.

Managing the Junk Mail Folder

  1. Open the Mail app and go to the "Junk" folder.
  2. You can mark emails as "Not Junk" if you accidentally moved a legitimate email to the "Junk" folder.
  3. You can also report junk mail as "Not Junk" to help improve the filter's accuracy.

Third-Party Email Clients

If you use a third-party email client, such as Microsoft Outlook or Google Inbox, you may need to check their settings to see if they have a built-in junk mail filter. You can also consider using a third-party junk mail filtering app, such as SpamSieve or Clean Email.

Remember, no email filter is 100% effective, so it's always a good idea to regularly check your email inbox and junk mail folder to ensure that legitimate emails aren't being misclassified.
