Live mail settings

Here are the common settings for Live Mail:

Account Settings

  1. Account Name: Enter a name for your email account.
  2. Email Address: Enter your email address (e.g., [yourname]@live.com).
  3. Password: Enter your email account password.
  4. Server Settings:
    • Incoming Mail Server: imap-mail.outlook.com (for IMAP) or pop3-mail.outlook.com (for POP3)
    • Outgoing Mail Server: smtp-mail.outlook.com
    • Port: 993 (for IMAP) or 995 (for POP3) for incoming mail, and 587 (for SMTP) for outgoing mail
  5. Security Settings:
    • Use SSL: Enable this option to use SSL encryption for incoming and outgoing mail
    • Use TLS: Enable this option to use TLS encryption for outgoing mail

Advanced Settings

  1. Leave a copy of messages on the server: Choose whether to leave a copy of your emails on the server or not.
  2. Remove read messages from the server: Choose whether to remove read messages from the server or not.
  3. Check for new messages every: Set the interval at which Live Mail checks for new messages.
  4. Download headers only: Choose whether to download only the headers of new messages or the entire message.

Other Settings

  1. Signature: Enter your email signature.
  2. Default font: Choose the default font for your emails.
  3. Default font size: Choose the default font size for your emails.
  4. Default line spacing: Choose the default line spacing for your emails.

Additional Tips

  1. Make sure to enter the correct server settings and port numbers for your email account.
  2. If you're using IMAP, you may need to configure your email client to leave a copy of messages on the server.
  3. If you're using POP3, you may need to configure your email client to remove read messages from the server.
  4. You can also configure additional settings, such as spam filtering and junk mail filtering, in the Live Mail settings.
