Live mail settings
Here are the common settings for Live Mail:
Account Settings
- Account Name: Enter a name for your email account.
- Email Address: Enter your email address (e.g., [yourname]@live.com).
- Password: Enter your email account password.
- Server Settings:
- Incoming Mail Server: imap-mail.outlook.com (for IMAP) or pop3-mail.outlook.com (for POP3)
- Outgoing Mail Server: smtp-mail.outlook.com
- Port: 993 (for IMAP) or 995 (for POP3) for incoming mail, and 587 (for SMTP) for outgoing mail
- Security Settings:
- Use SSL: Enable this option to use SSL encryption for incoming and outgoing mail
- Use TLS: Enable this option to use TLS encryption for outgoing mail
Advanced Settings
- Leave a copy of messages on the server: Choose whether to leave a copy of your emails on the server or not.
- Remove read messages from the server: Choose whether to remove read messages from the server or not.
- Check for new messages every: Set the interval at which Live Mail checks for new messages.
- Download headers only: Choose whether to download only the headers of new messages or the entire message.
Other Settings
- Signature: Enter your email signature.
- Default font: Choose the default font for your emails.
- Default font size: Choose the default font size for your emails.
- Default line spacing: Choose the default line spacing for your emails.
Additional Tips
- Make sure to enter the correct server settings and port numbers for your email account.
- If you're using IMAP, you may need to configure your email client to leave a copy of messages on the server.
- If you're using POP3, you may need to configure your email client to remove read messages from the server.
