Microsoft 365 outlook mail in outbox

The "Outbox" in Microsoft 365 Outlook!

The Outbox is a folder in your Outlook mailbox where emails are temporarily stored before they are sent. When you compose an email and click the "Send" button, the email is moved to the Outbox folder instead of being sent immediately. This allows you to review and edit the email before it's actually sent.

Here are some key things to know about the Outbox in Microsoft 365 Outlook:

  1. Temporary storage: The Outbox is a temporary storage location for emails that are waiting to be sent. Once the email is sent, it will be moved to the "Sent Items" folder.
  2. Editing and cancellation: While an email is in the Outbox, you can still edit or cancel it. Simply open the email in the Outbox, make your changes, and then click "Send" again to update the email. If you want to cancel the email, you can delete it from the Outbox.
  3. Sending delay: If you have a slow internet connection or other issues that prevent the email from being sent immediately, it will be stored in the Outbox until the connection is restored or the issue is resolved.
  4. Outbox size limit: Like other folders in Outlook, the Outbox has a size limit. If the Outbox becomes too large, you may need to delete some emails to free up space.
  5. Viewing and managing the Outbox: You can view and manage the emails in your Outbox by going to the "Outbox" folder in your Outlook mailbox. You can also use the "Outbox" button in the "Home" tab of the ribbon to quickly access the Outbox folder.
