A blast from the past!
MSN (Microsoft Network) was a popular online service that was launched in 1995. It was a comprehensive online platform that offered a range of services, including:
- Hotmail: a free web-based email service that was acquired by Microsoft in 1997. Hotmail was one of the first free web-based email services and was extremely popular in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
- Outlook: a personal information manager (PIM) that was also part of the MSN suite. Outlook allowed users to manage their email, calendar, contacts, and tasks in one place.
In 2012, Microsoft rebranded MSN as MSN.com, which is now a portal that aggregates news, sports, entertainment, and lifestyle content. The MSN.com homepage features a range of topics, including:
- News: top stories from around the world
- Sports: scores, news, and highlights from various sports
- Entertainment: movies, TV shows, music, and celebrity news
- Lifestyle: health, finance, travel, and technology news
- Weather: current weather conditions and forecasts
The MSN.com homepage also features a search bar, allowing users to search the web using Bing, Microsoft's search engine.
In 2013, Microsoft launched Outlook.com, a free web-based email service that replaced Hotmail. Outlook.com offers a range of features, including:
- A clean and modern interface
- Integration with other Microsoft services, such as Office Online and OneDrive
- Advanced security features, including two-factor authentication and encryption
- Support for multiple email accounts and calendars
Today, Outlook.com is one of the most popular email services in the world, with over 400 million active users.
