Setting up sympatico email in outlook

A blast from the past! Sympatico was a popular internet service provider in Canada, and setting up your email account in Outlook is a relatively straightforward process. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you get started:

Prerequisites:

  1. You have a Sympatico email account (e.g., @sympatico.ca or @bell.net).
  2. You have Outlook installed on your computer (2010 or later).
  3. You have your Sympatico email account login credentials (username and password).

Step 1: Launch Outlook and create a new account

  1. Open Outlook on your computer.
  2. Click on "File" > "Add Account" (or "Account Settings" > "Add New Account" in Outlook 2016 and later).
  3. Select "Manual setup or additional server types" and click "Next".

Step 2: Enter your Sympatico email account details

  1. In the "User Information" section, enter your name and email address (e.g., [email protected]).
  2. In the "Server Information" section, select "POP" or "IMAP" as your account type (IMAP is recommended for syncing email across devices).
  3. Enter the following settings:
    • Incoming mail server: pop.sympatico.ca (POP) or imap.sympatico.ca (IMAP)
    • Outgoing mail server: smtp.sympatico.ca
