Thunderbird email password change
To change your email password in Thunderbird, follow these steps:
Method 1: Change password through Thunderbird
- Open Thunderbird and go to the "Account Settings" window by clicking on "Tools" > "Account Settings" or pressing
Ctrl + Shift + B
. - Select the email account you want to change the password for and click on the "Edit" button next to it.
- Click on the "Server Settings" tab and then click on the "Edit" button next to "Username and Password".
- Enter your new password in the "Password" field and confirm it in the "Repeat Password" field.
- Click "OK" to save the changes.
Method 2: Change password through email provider's website
- Go to your email provider's website (e.g. Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook) and sign in with your current email address and password.
- Look for the "Account" or "Settings" section and click on it.
- Find the "Password" or "Security" section and click on it.
- Follow the instructions to change your password.
- Once you've changed your password, go back to Thunderbird and restart the email client.
Tips:
- Make sure you have the correct email account settings in Thunderbird before changing your password. You can check your account settings by going to "Tools" > "Account Settings" and selecting the email account.
- If you're using two-factor authentication (2FA) with your email provider, you may need to enter a verification code sent to your phone or another device in addition to your new password.
