How to set up a Mail Hold:
- Go to the USPS website (www.usps.com) and click on "Hold Mail" under the "Manage Your Mail" section.
- Enter your address and the dates you'd like to hold your mail.
- Choose the type of mail you'd like to hold (e.g., regular mail, packages, or both).
- Confirm your request and print a confirmation page.
What happens when you set up a Mail Hold:
- The USPS will hold your mail at the local post office for the specified dates.
- You can pick up your held mail at the post office during business hours.
- If you're unable to pick up your mail, you can have it forwarded to another address or have it returned to the sender.
Tips and considerations:
- You can set up a Mail Hold for up to 30 days.
- You can only set up a Mail Hold for your own address.
- If you have a PO box, you can't set up a Mail Hold for it.
- If you have a package delivery, you may need to contact the sender to arrange for delivery or pickup.
- If you're planning to be away for an extended period, you may want to consider setting up a forwarding address instead of a Mail Hold.
