Us forward postal mail
The joys of forwarding postal mail!
If you're moving to a new address and want to ensure that your mail is forwarded to your new location, here's what you need to do:
USPS Forwarding Options:
- Forward Mail: You can forward your mail to a new address for a limited time (up to 12 months). This service is available for a fee, which varies depending on the type of mail and the length of time you want to forward it.
- Hold Mail: If you're moving temporarily, you can have your mail held at the post office for a short period (up to 30 days). This service is free, but you'll need to pick up your mail in person.
How to Forward Your Mail:
- Fill out a Change of Address Form: You can download and print a Change of Address Form (PS Form 3575) from the USPS website or pick one up at your local post office.
- Fill out the form: Complete the form with your old and new addresses, as well as your name and other relevant information.
- Sign and date the form: Make sure to sign and date the form to confirm your identity.
- Mail the form: Mail the completed form to the USPS address listed on the form (or drop it off at your local post office).
- Wait for confirmation: The USPS will process your request and send you a confirmation letter with your new address.
Tips and Reminders:
- Forwarding mail can take up to 7-10 business days to take effect, so plan accordingly.
- Make sure to update your address with your bank, credit card company, and other relevant institutions to avoid any issues.
- If you're forwarding mail for a business, you may need to provide additional documentation, such as a business license or tax ID number.
- If you're moving internationally, you may need to use a different forwarding service, such as a mail forwarding company.
