A blast from the past!

Wayland and WBU were two email services that were popular in the early days of the internet.

Wayland

Wayland was an email service that was launched in 1995 by a company called Wayland Communications. It was one of the first commercial email services to offer a web-based interface, allowing users to access their email accounts from any internet-connected computer. Wayland was known for its user-friendly interface and robust features, including support for attachments, forwarding, and filtering.

Wayland was popular in the late 1990s and early 2000s, but it eventually lost ground to newer email services like Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail. The Wayland website is no longer active, and the service is no longer available.

WBU

WBU (World Best Users) was another email service that was launched in the late 1990s. It was known for its free email accounts and simple, easy-to-use interface. WBU was popular among individuals and small businesses who needed a basic email service.

WBU was acquired by a company called Lycos in 2000, and the service was eventually phased out in favor of Lycos's own email service. The WBU website is no longer active, and the service is no longer available.

Both Wayland and WBU were important players in the early days of email, but they ultimately failed to keep up with the rapid pace of innovation and competition in the email market.
