Windows mail cannot send email but can receive

Frustrating!

There are several reasons why Windows Mail might not be able to send emails, but can receive them. Here are some troubleshooting steps to help you resolve the issue:

  1. Check your internet connection: Ensure that your internet connection is stable and working properly. Try sending an email using a different email client or a web-based email service like Gmail or Outlook.com to see if the issue is specific to Windows Mail.
  2. Verify your email account settings: Double-check your email account settings in Windows Mail. Make sure that your username, password, and server settings are correct. You can do this by going to Settings > Accounts > Your Email Account > Manage Accounts.
  3. Check your SMTP settings: SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) is used to send emails. Ensure that your SMTP settings are correct. You can find these settings in your email account provider's settings or documentation.
  4. Disable and re-enable your email account: Try disabling and then re-enabling your email account in Windows Mail. This can sometimes resolve connectivity issues.
  5. Check for updates: Ensure that Windows Mail is up to date. You can check for updates by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  6. Reset Windows Mail: Try resetting Windows Mail to its default settings. To do this, go to Settings > Apps > Windows Mail > Advanced Options > Reset.
  7. Check for malware: Malware can cause issues with email clients. Run a full scan with your antivirus software to ensure that your system is free from malware.
  8. Check your firewall settings: Firewalls can block email traffic. Check your firewall settings to ensure that Windows Mail is allowed to send emails.
  9. Try sending an email using a different port: Sometimes, email clients can get stuck on a specific port. Try sending an email using a different port, such as port 587 instead of port 25.
  10. Reinstall Windows Mail: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, you can try reinstalling Windows Mail. Go to Settings > Apps > Windows Mail > Uninstall, and then reinstall it from the Microsoft Store.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, you may want to try using a different email client or contact your email provider's support team for further assistance.
