Force outlook to index mail

The joys of indexing in Outlook!

To force Outlook to index your mail, you can try the following methods:

Method 1: Manually update the index

  1. Open Outlook and go to the "File" menu.
  2. Click on "Options" and then select "Search" from the left-hand menu.
  3. Click on the "Indexing Options" button.
  4. Click on the "Rebuild" button to start the indexing process.

Method 2: Use the Outlook Search Folders

  1. Open Outlook and go to the "Folder" view.
  2. Right-click on the folder you want to index and select "Search Folders".
  3. In the "Search Folders" dialog box, click on the "Index" button.
  4. Outlook will start indexing the selected folder.

Method 3: Use the Windows Search Indexing

  1. Open the Windows Search app (or press the Windows key + S).
  2. Click on the "Indexing Options" button.
  3. In the "Indexing Options" window, click on the "Modify" button.
  4. In the "Indexing Options" dialog box, select the "Outlook" folder and click "OK".
  5. Outlook will start indexing the selected folder.

Method 4: Run the Outlook Profiling Tool

  1. Open Outlook and go to the "File" menu.
  2. Click on "Options" and then select "Advanced" from the left-hand menu.
  3. Click on the "Error Reporting" button.
  4. Click on the "Run" button to run the Outlook Profiling Tool.
  5. The tool will help identify and fix any issues with your Outlook indexing.

Method 5: Reset Outlook Search

  1. Open Outlook and go to the "File" menu.
  2. Click on "Options" and then select "Search" from the left-hand menu.
  3. Click on the "Reset" button to reset the Outlook search settings.
  4. Outlook will rebuild the search index.

Remember to be patient, as indexing can take some time, especially if you have a large number of emails or a slow computer.
