Gmail pop server
Gmail does not support POP (Post Office Protocol) by default. However, you can enable POP access to retrieve your Gmail messages using a third-party email client or app. Here's how:
Enable POP access in Gmail settings:
- Log in to your Gmail account.
- Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner and select "See all settings."
- Go to the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab.
- Scroll down to the "POP download" section.
- Select the "Enable POP" radio button.
- Choose whether you want to allow POP access from any email client or only from a specific IP address.
- Click "Save Changes."
Configure your email client or app to use Gmail's POP server:
- Open your email client or app and go to the settings or preferences.
- Look for the "Accounts" or "Email" settings and select "Add account" or "New account."
- Choose "POP" or "POP3" as the account type.
- Enter the following settings:
- Server: pop.gmail.com
- Port: 995 (or 110 for unencrypted POP)
- Username: your Gmail address (e.g., [your_email_address]@gmail.com)
- Password: your Gmail password
- Save the changes.
Note:
- POP access is only available for Gmail accounts that are at least 30 days old.
- POP access may not work if you have 2-Step Verification (2SV) enabled. You can disable 2SV or use an app password instead.
- POP access may not work if you have a large number of messages in your inbox. Gmail has a limit of 10,000 messages that can be retrieved using POP.
- POP access may not work if you are using a firewall or antivirus software that blocks POP connections.
It's also important to note that POP access is not recommended for security reasons, as it allows your email client or app to store your Gmail password and potentially compromise your account security. If you need to access your Gmail account from multiple devices, it's recommended to use IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) instead, which allows you to access your emails from multiple devices without storing your password.
