How do you empty trash in apple mail

To empty the trash in Apple Mail, follow these steps:

  1. Open Apple Mail on your Mac or iOS device.
  2. Click on the "Mail" menu at the top of the screen, then select "Empty Trash" from the drop-down menu.
  3. Alternatively, you can also use the keyboard shortcut "Command + Shift + Delete" (⌘ + Shift + Delete) to empty the trash.
  4. If you want to empty the trash for a specific mailbox, select the mailbox in the Mailbox list, then click on the "Mail" menu and select "Empty Trash" or use the keyboard shortcut.

Note: If you have multiple mailboxes, you'll need to select the mailbox you want to empty the trash for before clicking "Empty Trash".

On an iOS device:

  1. Open the Mail app.
  2. Tap on the "Edit" button in the top-right corner of the screen.
  3. Tap on the "Trash" folder.
  4. Tap on the "Edit" button again.
  5. Tap on the "Delete" button to empty the trash.

Alternatively, you can also use the "Swipe" gesture to delete emails in the trash folder. Swipe left on an email to reveal the "More" button, then tap on the "Delete" button.

Note: On iOS devices, you can also use the "Mail" app's built-in "Archive" feature to move emails to the "Archive" folder instead of deleting them. To do this, select the emails you want to archive, then tap on the "Archive" button in the top-right corner of the screen.
