How to get back archived mails in gmail

The eternal quest to recover lost emails!

Gmail has a feature called "Archive" that allows you to move emails out of your inbox and store them in a separate section. While archived emails are not deleted, they can be difficult to find if you're not using the correct search terms or filters. Here are some ways to recover archived emails in Gmail:

Method 1: Search using keywords

  1. Log in to your Gmail account.
  2. Click on the search bar at the top of the page.
  3. Type in keywords related to the email you're looking for, such as:
    • A specific subject line
    • A sender's name or email address
    • A recipient's name or email address
    • A specific date or date range
    • A specific phrase or keyword from the email content
  4. Press Enter to execute the search.
  5. If the email is archived, it will appear in the search results.

Method 2: Use the "Has:archived" search operator

  1. Log in to your Gmail account.
  2. Click on the search bar at the top of the page.
  3. Type in the following search query: has:archived
  4. Press Enter to execute the search.
  5. This will show you all archived emails in your Gmail account.

Method 3: Use the "In:archive" search operator

  1. Log in to your Gmail account.
  2. Click on the search bar at the top of the page.
  3. Type in the following search query: in:archive
  4. Press Enter to execute the search.
  5. This will show you all emails that are currently archived in your Gmail account.

Method 4: Use Gmail's "Show search options" feature

  1. Log in to your Gmail account.
  2. Click on the search bar at the top of the page.
  3. Click on the "Show search options" link at the bottom of the search bar.
  4. In the "Search options" panel, select "Archived" from the "From" dropdown menu.
  5. Press Enter to execute the search.

Method 5: Use Gmail's "Filter" feature

  1. Log in to your Gmail account.
  2. Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner of the page.
  3. Select "See all settings" from the dropdown menu.
  4. Click on the "Filters and Blocked Addresses" tab.
  5. Click on the "Create a new filter" button.
  6. In the "From" field, enter the email address of the sender you're looking for.
  7. In the "Has the words" field, enter the keywords you're looking for.
  8. Click on the "Create filter" button.
  9. In the "Apply the label" dropdown menu, select "Archived".
  10. Click on the "Create" button.
