Import eml to apple mail

A common question!

There are a few ways to import EML files into Apple Mail:

Method 1: Drag and Drop

  1. Open Apple Mail on your Mac.
  2. Select the "Mail" menu and choose "Preferences" (or use the keyboard shortcut Command + Comma).
  3. Click on the "Accounts" tab.
  4. Click on the "+" button at the bottom left corner of the window to add a new account.
  5. Select "Other Mail Account" and click "Continue".
  6. In the "Account Type" section, select "Other" and click "Continue".
  7. In the "Incoming Mail Server" section, enter the following information:
    • Server: your email provider's incoming mail server (e.g., imap.gmail.com)
    • User Name: your email address
    • Password: your email password
  8. Click "Continue" and then "Create".
  9. Now, go back to the Apple Mail window and select the "File" menu.
  10. Choose "Import Mailboxes" (or use the keyboard shortcut Command + Shift + I).
  11. Select the EML file(s) you want to import and click "Open".
  12. The EML files will be imported into Apple Mail.

Method 2: Using the "Mail" app's built-in import feature

  1. Open Apple Mail on your Mac.
  2. Select the "File" menu and choose "Import Mailboxes" (or use the keyboard shortcut Command + Shift + I).
  3. Select the EML file(s) you want to import and click "Open".
  4. The EML files will be imported into Apple Mail.
