Netscape isp email

A blast from the past!

Netscape ISP was a dial-up Internet Service Provider (ISP) that was popular in the 1990s and early 2000s. At its peak, Netscape ISP had over 1 million subscribers. Here's some information about their email service:

Netscape ISP Email

Netscape ISP offered a free email service to its subscribers, which was branded as "Netscape Mail". The email service was a basic POP3 (Post Office Protocol version 3) email service, which allowed users to access their email using a web-based interface or via a third-party email client like Microsoft Outlook.

Features

Netscape Mail offered some basic features, including:

  1. Free email accounts with a @netscape.net domain
  2. Web-based email access through the Netscape ISP website
  3. POP3 email access using a third-party email client
  4. Limited storage space (typically 2-5 MB)
  5. Basic spam filtering and virus scanning

Discontinuation

In 2003, America Online (AOL) acquired Netscape ISP and subsequently discontinued the service. AOL migrated Netscape ISP subscribers to its own AOL email service, which offered more features and storage space. As a result, Netscape ISP email accounts were no longer available for new sign-ups, and existing accounts were eventually phased out.

Legacy

Although Netscape ISP email is no longer available, the @netscape.net domain is still active, and some users may still be able to access their old email accounts using a third-party email client or a web-based email service like Gmail or Outlook.com. However, these accounts are likely to be inactive or no longer supported by AOL.
