The ismaili global encounters

The Ismaili Global Encounters (IGE) is a biennial conference organized by the Ismaili Muslim community, which brings together Ismailis from around the world to share knowledge, experiences, and ideas. The conference aims to promote unity, understanding, and cooperation among Ismailis, as well as to foster dialogue and collaboration with other communities.

The first Ismaili Global Encounter was held in 2008 in Lisbon, Portugal, and subsequent conferences have been held in:

  1. 2010: Dubai, United Arab Emirates
  2. 2012: Toronto, Canada
  3. 2014: Dushanbe, Tajikistan
  4. 2016: Lisbon, Portugal (again)
  5. 2018: Lisbon, Portugal (again)
  6. 2020: Virtual Conference (due to the COVID-19 pandemic)

The IGE conferences have featured a range of activities, including:

  1. Keynote speeches by prominent Ismaili leaders and scholars
  2. Panel discussions and workshops on topics such as education, healthcare, and community development
  3. Cultural performances and exhibitions showcasing Ismaili arts, music, and traditions
  4. Networking opportunities for Ismailis from around the world
  5. Youth programs and activities, including a youth conference and a volunteer fair

The IGE conferences have also been attended by dignitaries and leaders from other faith communities, governments, and international organizations, promoting interfaith dialogue and cooperation.

The Ismaili Global Encounters have been instrumental in:

  2. Promoting education and community development

The next Ismaili Global Encounter is scheduled to take place in 2022, although the exact location and dates have not been announced yet.
